While Salty Joe and The Whiskey Preacher are fundamentally rooted in the Irish folk tradition, their music is a multi-genre powerhouse described as a "what the hell did I just hear?" live experience. They play everything from raw Irish trad to rock, country, blues, bluegrass, and even 70s disco, adapting their set seamlessly to fit any room.

Despite being a duo, they achieve a surprisingly massive, layered sound. They accomplish this entirely 100% live with no backing tracks. Salty Joe & The Whisky Preacher performs with an arsenal of 4 or 5 string instruments, whistles, harmonica and a custom stomp-box percussion rig featuring two pedals, giving their arrangements the rhythmic drive and punch of a full live band.
